The Best Decision

My hubby and I have thoroughly enjoyed sending our son Louie to Nurture@Home each week. People all warned us about going to ‘in-home care’, saying things like he won’t get used to lots of other children, etc., etc., but NO Way! We have found it to be the best decision! Children get more one-on-one with their educator, and they do…

Today we explored the taiao (nature), walking through swishy long grass, making a track to follow uphill and downhill and then over to a little ngahere (forrest). 🍂🌾

Tamariki collected sticks, that became props for imaginative play and adventure- building a campfire and even a magical wand!✨

We finished our session by gathering together to sing our waiata (Nga Atua) bringing a sense of calm and closure to our NatureFocus session.

We love spending time in the taiao and learning through nature.💚❄🌳🌾

Take a look at what our wonderful Marlborough Educator Nurture at Home with Jo has been up to lately with her care children. <3

💚 Special moments, lasting memories 💚

Jo beautifully captures the heart of home-based education. In the busyness of everyday life, it's often the simple moments spent together that mean the most. Sharing conversations, exploring interests, enjoying outings, and building meaningful connections.

Today at Playschool, the tamariki had a wonderful time exploring a range of creative and imaginative learning experiences.🫖🌼

As part of our Matariki celebrations, the children created beautiful Matariki stars using coloured tissue paper. They practised their fine motor skills by carefully using scissors to cut the tissue paper and glue it onto their stars. The tamariki showed growing confidence with scissor control and enjoyed discussing the names of the Matariki stars. These stars will be added to our wall art-display as we continue our learning about Matariki.❄✨

There were many opportunities for imaginative and family play throughout the session. Children used loose parts to extend their exploration and pretend play. This type of play supports creativity, communication, and social development.👒🌸

Other favourite activities included playdough and sandpit play, where children explored, created, and worked alongside their peers. Through these experiences, the tamariki continued to develop important social skills, including sharing, cooperation, turn-taking, and building positive relationships with one another.🥰

It was a busy and engaging morning filled with creativity, learning, and meaningful connections.❤️💙
