Kia ora, my name is Sarah, from Nurture@Home, quality education and home childcare. I provide a loving home-based childcare service in Brightwater.
I believe children learn in a caring, trusting & supportive setting that celebrates who they are as an individual learner. In my early childhood environment, children will be guided and encouraged to explore and discover at their own pace. I value child-led play whilst also integrating planned activities that extend upon each child’s interests and development.
I have been a teacher aide for several years and attended Playcentre when my own children were young. My husband and I have two teenage daughters and one cat, called Pickles. We also have an international exchange student. As a family, we love to go on trips together and my hobbies are crafts, painting, knitting, reading and baking.
My environment is full of fun, meaningful activities for the children such as music, NatureEXPLORERS, arts & crafts, and our large outdoor space to explore and ride bikes. I also attend Nurture@Home Playschool with the children. My sustainable approach ensures children create meaningful rituals tending to and exploring our vegetable garden. They develop an awareness of composting, seasons for growth and harvest, and caring for living things. Arts and crafts are also readily available daily, where I love to work alongside the children with a shared, creative project in action. Just around the corner from my house is a wonderful playground and reserve, where we take regular outings to build upon the children’s gross motor skills and enjoy nature at our doorstep.
