Hi, I’m Helen and I provide home-based care in the Brook area of Nelson. It is my goal that every child leaves my home confident, packed with happy memories & connections with people that last a life time.
I am a wife and mother of four amazing children whom sparked my passion for home base early childhood education. I have been caring for children in my home since 2010 and during this time I have obtained my Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education Level 3. I enjoy learning and continue to develop my own professional development.
I am passionate about creating a fun, stimulating, positive and calm environment that nurtures and fosters attachment relationships and one where children are given the opportunity to learn and develop at their own pace with activities that interest them. I incorporate Te Whariki, the Early Childhood Curriculum, when designing an individual programme for each child.
“Helen is the most loving & caring person and Eila felt at home almost immediately . Helen & her children are on fast recall in Eila’s stories which shows us that she feels welcome and valued by them. She has wonderful rituals in place to help the adjustment process go extra smoothly & she is always quick to get down to the children’s level & connect with them. Helen’s learning stories are very treasured in our house and are often brought off the shelf for a story on the couch . The Nurture@Home team made everything a very easy process & we happily recommend to others”. (Clark Family – Nelson).
“Our boy absolutely loves going to Helen’s. He settled in really quickly initially and Helen was very thoughtful & would have his favourite train set out to help the settling process. He talks about Helen a lot & is always so happy to go along. Helen is so patient with the children. Our son enjoys the Nurture@Home Playschool and all the free play on offer. It’s great that he can follow his own interests. The emails & photos & stories we receive are great. We love seeing what he has been up to when we are not with him”. (Rolston Family, Nelson)
